When a person is constipated, the walls of the colon are generally packed or lined with accumulated waste. This causes extended periods of intestinal overloading by failure to have regular bowel movements. In this condition, the colon can neither absorb nor eliminate properly. If you eat three to five times a day, your bowel should move accordingly. Bowel movements once a day, or every two or three days is considered normal. However, this is far from the truth. While this may be common to most people, it is not sufficient to maintain good health.
Foul smelling stools and gas are signs of a toxic colon. The healthy color of your stool is golden brown and has minimal odor. It should be the size of logs and float inside the toilet water. During constipation, you may observe a darkening of the stool. This is caused by the longer transition time in your system with residues lying in your colon for more than 12 hours. This results in the distribution of poisons into the bloodstream and every organ of your body which is called toxemia or auto intoxication. We indulge in daily routines of eating foods low in fiber and "live" enzymes. This is one of the direct causes of constipation.
The three habits which causes our colon to be toxic.
The first habit is eating refined and processed foods. They do not provide quality energy to our cellular structure and to the organs responsible for the elimination of waste matter. Second is holding our bowel movements. Some people will feel the urge to eliminate but will not because of inconvenience and/or embarrassment. Third is not drinking enough water. We should drink water to equal half our weight in ounces daily. Drink water up to one half hour before and after meals and not during meals. When you drink during a meal your digestive juices become diluted.
